Special Population Programs
These classes were designed to help those with special fitness needs.
All classes will promote strength, flexibilty and balance and were created by following guidelines set forth from national health, fitness, and safety organizations. Each class is taught by certified, experienced staff, and any exercise may be modified. Particpants must fill out a medical questionnaire/release form and all are encouraged to seek medical clearance before starting this or any other fitness program.
A variety of equipment will be used in all classes. Each class is 45 mintues.
*BoneSmart - This class is ideal for anyone with Osteoporosis or Osteopenia.
Class will be lead through a rythmic warm-up and stretch before beginning light aerobic movements and weighted exercises for major muscles which will help you to increase muscle strength and promote strong, healthy bones.
Balance will be another focus as this will help prevent falls.
*Spinal Stabilizer - Have you ever said, "Oh, My aching back!"?
Do you have herniated discs, degeneration disease, or postural issues? This class is the answer for you. Class members will learn strecthing techniques, strength exercises and proper body mechanics. The main focus will be on your back and other core muscles
while learning that movement will keep you agile and strong.
*Sassy Seniors - For ages 65 and up.
This class focuses on ADL's, or Activities for Daily Living. Listen to familiar music and have fun while moving through a mild rythmic warm-up, then move on to gentle balance and muscle strengthening exercises. Coordination games keep this class interesting.
Participants are encouraged to sit or stand.
