| Here is a small description of what the classes are all about.
Core Conditioning Everyone can benfit from a strong core. Core strength ads stability to the low back, improves balance and aids in better posture. The muscles worked are the same as in Pilates; the abdominals, glutes, low back, and some inner & outer thigh. This class will incorporate cardio, weight training, and other small equipment. Be prepared to stand, sit or lay down as we work your core muscles from all different angles. All levels welcome.
Hatha Yoga Hatha yoga is the oldest form of yoga, and serves as a base for all other yoga disciplines. It is a great starting point for beginners, but is meant for everyone. Yoga will increase your flexibilty, improve balance, lower your blood pressure and alleviate stress. Yoga will teach you to breathe properly, making your more aware of the body-mind connection. Familiar positions such as downward-facing dog, tree, warrior, and traingle will be taught.
Little Yoginis/Little Stars Yoga Yoga is a great way for children (3-5 & 9-13 *future programming coming soon for additional age groups) to learn to increase body awareness and self-esteem, to enjoy movement, and to begin to take responsibilty for their overall health. Many yoga students list experiencing other such benefits as ~ increased flexibility, improved focus and concentration, and a better ability to relax and calm down. Participants will learn the same breathing and poses that "Mommy" does, but in a fun, friendly, and age appropriate manner. This class is taught in the Hatha discipline and may also include rythmic movement, yoga 'games', and even buddy-work. Wear comfortable clothing, bring your own yoga mat and a bottle of water.
Pilates Fusion This is a mat Pilates format incorporating the exercises originally created by Joseph Pilates. This form of exercise will work on your core muscles, and include additional challenging moves and positions drawn from various modes of therapy and fitness. We'll learn to work the body from the inside-out by focusing on the deep tissue muscles of the abdominals, low-back, glutes, inner & outer thigh. Pilates will help you to stand taller and with more confidence as we improve your posture, balance the body, and work toward a smaller mid-section. Pilates is performed barefoot. Great for all levels. Total Body ConditioningMake your muscles work for you! Participants will be lead through a cardio warm-up and stretch, and then train every major muscle in the body. We'll use weights, bands, tubes, physio balls, etc until you feel the burn. Expect plenty of lunges and squats, shoulder presses and push-ups and crunches. Great for all levels.
Yoga Sculpt Class will be lead through flowing Vinyasa asanas and other rythmic and balancing poses while maintaining a concentration on the Ujjayi breath. This is an excellent routine to achieve cardio wellness, increased flexibility, and improved strength and stamina. Light weights may be used. Some prior knowledge of yoga positions are required.
****Please bring your own mat to class. Don't forget your water bottle, towel, and proper footwear at all times.
